The 506th Marine Strike Group, the Peregrines, are an infantry division. We are the ground troops that you know are there, but never see. The STARFLEET Marine Force are the people that hold the ground when the Fleet takes the air (space). We stay in the background for the main part of our deployment but when you need us we are there with Phaser Rifle in hand and determination on our faces. The STARFLEET Marine Corps are a side group of STARFLEET that are composed of the people that assume there had to be ground pounders in the Star Trek world. We're members of STARFLEET. The Corps does not have different requirements for membership, except that a STARFLEET Marine must be a member in good standing in STARFLEET. Having someone on the ground is the only way to win a war and hold a planet. STARFLEET Marine Corps came to the fore front after the realization of the Dominion War. The Marine are part of everything from holding ground to peacekeeping to helping out in the wake of natural disaster no matter the planet it's on.
